"Adult Protective Services came and looked at the situation. They paid for a Home Care Agency to clean the house from one side to the other. Those that would like to donate to Adult Protective Services Advisory Board, definitely do. They're a great place to donate."

The APS Advisory Board is a non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer board established to support the Adult Protective Services (APS) Program of the Permian Basin. The board was developed to improve the lives of older adults and people with disabilities through education and awareness. The members of the board established goals and objectives to improve social and human services to vulnerable adults through advocacy and the development of resources to support APS caseworkers in the field. Board objectives include the development and promotion of intervention strategies with public and private sector partners designed to prevent and alleviate occurrences of abuse, neglect, and exploitation to vulnerable adults.
The Board’s goal is to provide support to APS by providing fans, heaters, clothing, toiletries, and various other items for vulnerable adults in need. Periodically, APS caseworkers identify important Client Needs that are above what State Funds can provide or in some cases, State Funds are not allowed to be cover. These include paying for a physician visit, providing a deposit for utilities and other supportive needs. Home Modifications are cases where it requires the support of joint funding between the State Agency and the Advisory Board Funds due to the cost.
Members advocate for laws, policies and services that improve the lives of vulnerable adults living in the community including healthcare, social interaction, financial stability, and safety. By establishing partnerships with elder service providers, financial institutions, law enforcement, courts, and other social services organizations the board improves the ability of APS staff to provide better services to vulnerable adults.
