Recognizing Excellence:

Awards and Honors for Leadership in Senior and Disability Advocacy

On May 1, 2025, Phi Theta Kappa fraternity at Midland College was honored with the Helping Hands Award  by the state of Texas Department of Family Services in recognition of their profound impact in the Permian Basin. With more than 100 dedicated hours, Phi Theta Kappa fraternity assisted by reorganizing our Silver Star Rooms, collecting items for the Silver Star Rooms and volunteering and donating a tree to the Boards Festival of Trees fundraiser.

DFPS HELPING HANDS volunteer Award 

On October 16, 2023, Ms. Mildred Ford was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her profound impact in the Permian Basin, particularly within the African American community. Her legacy includes the hundreds of families she touched through her dedicated work delivering babies in Midland.

Lifetime Achievement Award 

In October, our APS Advisory Board was honored for the third consecutive year with the Bruce Davis Award of Excellence at the 42nd Annual State APS Conference, recognizing our outstanding contributions in 2025.

In October 2024, Bernadette Ostroff, former President of our APS Advisory Board, was honored with a Beacon Award from the Nonprofit Management Center for her exceptional leadership and the board's impactful work in supporting vulnerable seniors and disabled adults throughout 2024.
